As a biker, shame on you Sandton City

It's not always easy finding a parking bay at Sandton City.

Out of respect for car owners, whenever I use my motorbike I NEVER park in a car bay. Fortunately Sandton City has nooks and crannies where they've allocated space for bikes and for almost 15 years I've been enjoying using my motorbike when visiting the centre.

As bikers don't use the car bays, it stands to reason that we should also not have to pay car prices for parking. This morning I was blocked by security guards as I wanted to leave Sandton City. They INSISTED I pay full price for parking and refused me exit. I was like a fugitive in the centre as they all walkie-talkied each other to block my escape. Too slow my friends.

As a motorcyclist, shame on you Sandton City. Six motorbikes can park in one car bay, so do you theoretically want to extort 6 times the amount for a single car bay? Or would you prefer that every motorcyclist parks in a car bay (since you want us to pay for it)? How would that pan out in peak hour when you have so many more cars that suddenly can't find a place to park?

On behalf of bikers, I would love to hear your official stance on the matter?
